If you’ve got an elevated deck, you already know the problem. Every time it rains, the space underneath turns into a muddy mess. Patio furniture gets soaked, storage gets ruined, and what could be a genuinely useful area just sits there wet, wasted, and ignored. That changes with UnderDeck Shield, the newest product that Lensing Building Specialties is proud to carry.

What Is UnderDeck Shield?

UnderDeck Shield is a lightweight drainage and ceiling panel system designed to go under elevated decks. Once installed, it channels water away from your home’s foundation and transforms the space below into a dry, functional area, whether you want covered storage, an outdoor entertaining spot, or simply a dry place to sit and watch the rain come down.

It’s a product built around a simple but clever idea: the pitch is in the panel. Rather than relying on gutters or separate drainage hardware, each panel is engineered with an integrated slope that moves water in the right direction automatically. No guesswork, no leveling headaches.

How It Works

The system uses three interlocking panel types: Panel A, Panel B, and Panel C, installed in sequence. Panel A goes closest to the house, with B and C layering beneath the ends of the previous panels as you work outward. The interlocking design keeps everything tight and uniform while allowing water to flow continuously away from your foundation.

Each panel measures 47.5″ long × 33.5″ wide, with a total run length of 139″. The overlapping design is specifically engineered so that no water seeps through the seams. Panels are secured with 1.5″ screws and come pre-marked with dimples so you always know exactly where to fasten.

UnderDeck Shield works on both new and existing decks, installed from above (topside) or below (underside). That covers the vast majority of residential decks.

Why It Stands Out

A few things set this product apart from other under-deck drainage systems we’ve seen:

It’s actually DIY-friendly. Most drainage ceiling systems require a contractor and a full day of frustration. UnderDeck Shield is designed for anyone to install. The panels are clearly labeled, the sequence is straightforward, and the company even offers a free online calculator to figure out exactly what you need before you buy.

The panels are lightweight but tough. Each panel is a thermoformed composite and weighs just over 3 pounds, making them easy to handle solo. They’re also built to handle everything from sub-zero Midwest winters to triple-digit summer heat, without warping, cracking, or deterioration.

It protects your deck, not just the space under it. When installed from the topside on a new build, UnderDeck Shield covers your structural joists, reducing their exposure to moisture and UV and ultimately extending the life of your deck.

It looks great. The finished underside is clean and polished, no exposed joists, no mess, no makeshift tarps. It looks like it was always meant to be there.

Made in the Midwest. Panels are thermoformed and trimmed domestically, with U.S.-sourced raw materials. That matters for quality consistency and lead times.
